Throughout our time together, I will guide you in strength training, yoga, and dance through the lens of injury prevention.

At the same time, we’ll explore emotional sobriety in depth, using a modern, trauma-informed interpretation of the 12 steps as the foundation for real change.

4-Day, 3-Night Retreat Itinerary: Movement & Modern 12 Steps

Overview:

This retreat blends strength training, yoga, and dance with a trauma-informed, modern approach to the 12 Steps of Recovery. Each day features a mix of movement modalities, structured meals, step work, and opportunities for connection and free time.


Day 1: Foundations & Opening (Steps 1, 2, 3)

7:30–8:30am

Breakfast

9:00–11:00am

Movement Session:

- 45 min: The Anatomy of Yoga (grounding, breathwork, body awareness)

- 45 min: Dance

- 15 min: Stretch

- 15 min: Meditation

11:30am–2:30pm

Lunch & Free Play

- Options: Nature walk, journaling, art, rest

3:00–5:00pm

Step Work: Steps 1, 2, & 3

1. Acknowledge Powerlessness and Unmanageability

Admit that addictive behaviors have become unmanageable, while recognizing that trauma and adverse experiences may have contributed to this type of coping. This is done with self-compassion, not shame.

2. Seek Empowerment from Self

Come to believe that healing and empowerment are possible, whether through community, connection to Self, or a power greater than oneself, and that support can help restore us to a sense of safety and well-being.

3. Let Go of Control with Safety

Decide to release attempts to control everything and instead ask, “What would support my healing today?” This may involve a Higher Power, community, or personal values, always at a pace that feels emotionally safe.

4. Gentle Self-Inventory

Make a compassionate and honest inventory of behaviors and patterns that have caused harm, proceeding at a pace that feels emotionally safe and supportive.

5. Safe Sharing

Share your inventory with a trusted person or support system, focusing on safety and emotional readiness, rather than forced disclosure.

6. Readiness for Change

Become willing to release behaviors and patterns that no longer serve you, inviting guidance from within, from trusted others, or a Higher Power

- Evening reflection: Glimmers vs. Triggers

Day 3: Repair & Release (Steps 7, 8, 9)

- 45 min: Strength Training (resilience, overcoming obstacles)

- 45 min: Dance (letting go, integration)

- 15 min: Stretch Sesh

- 15 min: Meditation

7. Embrace Imperfection

Ask for help in accepting your human imperfections and in cultivating self-compassion as you grow and heal.

8. Willingness to Make Amends

Make a list of those you may have harmed, especially yourself, and become willing to make amends, recognizing when it is safe and appropriate to do so.

9. Safe Amends

Make direct amends wherever possible, except when it would cause harm to yourself or others. Prioritize emotional safety and boundaries.

Day 4: Integration & Moving Forward (Steps 10, 11, 12)

Continue to take personal inventory, taking responsibility for mistakes and promptly make amends while practicing compassionate inquiry.

11. Mindful Connection

Seek to deepen conscious contact with your chosen source of support (Higher Power, inner wisdom, community) through mindfulness, meditation, or prayer, asking for guidance and empowerment for the day.

12. Share and Support

Having experienced healing, carry this message to others and practice these principles in all areas of life, always honoring the need for safety, boundaries, and inclusivity
